Hanging with PW

Ree was in Brookline, MA last night. I was really hoping that nobody knew her here. Wrong! If you know me, you know that I detest standing in line, detest driving in the city, detest paying tolls, detest finding a place to park. BUT I really wanted to see Ree again, so I drove into Boston. Paid the toll. Found the bookstore which had a line up the block and around the corner. Drove around for 10 minutes and found a parking spot. Then I got in line.

Brookline Booksmith was a delightful find. The people who worked there were incredibly friendly and helpful. AND they gave out chocolate while you waited in line. How nice is that?!

The people in line were fantastic! (No complainers here!) I tried to stand behind this guy on the left. He was great at blocking the wind as we stood outside. (I managed to show up without a coat...) Thank you tall guy! We had a great time talking about all kinds of things, Irish dancing, school in Lowell, salt and pepper chocolate, jobs, kids, the lottery school system in Boston, etc. Considering we were in line for 3 1/2 hours, we had time to chat.

We ended up with plenty of time to check out their books as we snaked through all of the aisles in the store. I have to say, this one made me laugh hysterically. The book is true to the title too! We looked through it.

The highlight for me was when the kids behind me started hollering, "The Pioneer Woman is going to the bathroom!" My new friend Joy and I were in the middle of a conversation and didn't notice Ree walking up the aisle next to us, but the kids behind us noticed! They made sure to let everyone know. I was laughing so hard. Anyone who's ever been a parent know how kids are great at announcing this kind of thing.

And we finally made it to the table!

Here is Joy with Ree. Joy and her very loyal friend, Anne, were in line in front of me. Anne stood in line for the first couple hours, but had to take off. It made me miss Chery who hung out with me last time I went to see Ree. It also made me miss Natalee... and Jana... and Kathleen... and...

I told Ree that I was Andrea Matrix and she grabbed my hand and said that it was great to meet a celebrity. HA! I can guarantee that I've never had this many people show up to meet me.

AND this time I did not give her bunny ears.

Hi! I am the mother of 2 of the kids behind you who were excited about the pioneer woman going to the restroom! It was a long but fun night! We were lucky to have such a great crowd around us!!! It was worth the wait! We cannot wait to try out the Pioneer Woman's new recipes!

My trusty and loyal friend is Anne. For the record, she regrets leaving early.

Thanks for taking my picture! Hope you didn't have to photoshop the ones I took too much...

Michelle,
I almost sent you an e-mail to see if you were going so we could meet up, but I am working on a school production of OZ and knew I would be late. I didn't get there until 7:30 pm.... an hour and a half after it started. I do want to get together.

Michelle & Ellen,

Maybe we could all get together and head to Maine for a Saturday. Since we are all shooting buddies!

It was great to meet you! I admire your perseverance--both the hour outside without a coat and the two hours moving book by book inside! Great photos! And thanks for keeping Joy company after I scooted. :)

Andrea and Joy - I am so jealous....the pictures of you are so much better than the pictures from my lousy "point and shoot" camera. PW and my kids are fuzzy; your photos are great! But the kids and I had so much fun we don't mind looking at fuzzy photos! I guess I've got to start reading the photography blog!

I am sorry I missed going with you, I would have stood in line to see PW all over again with you. Too bad about the bunny ears, you should have gone with Shrek ears this time :)
